What is a point cloud?
A point cloud is usually found when dealing with 3D Models. A Point cloud will contain multiple points who’s location is known. If a point cloud is obtained, a 3D model can be created using this data.
When using Lidar, the result will be a point cloud file. This is a file that contains the location and properties of many points that have been projected onto a surface. The Lidar will be able to record the exact location as well as the material and colour of the point so that the points can be used to reconstruct a 3D Model of the landscape.
